i made: fringe party decor

i created custom fringe decor for the front entrance and interior places for my friend leslie pyfers' party.  pops of oranges, pinks, golds + clear 17" round clear balloons made for a modern, fresh and fun design.

*i used crepe paper.  it is solid and has a nice texture.  i purchases rolls online and hand cut the fringe with my rotary blade.  i folded it and attached it with a stable to cotton rope.

the 17" clear balloons looked like giant bubbles.

leslie pyfer wanted to throw and artist inspired party to benefit the Oregon Weimaraner Rescue.  each artist invited donated 10% of their profit.  :)
a modern, intimate party with good people and good design.
i created the custom fringe decor for the enterance and the interior.
thank you leslie for allowing me to be a party of this event!  j

window design:: fall 2011

"raindrops"  --my newest window design is up at Parts + Labour Boutique  in downdown hood river, oregon.

parts + labour has a new window for fall.  the summer has been amazing and fall is on the way.  rain is on the way too...

process::  this window took a lot of hands on searching.  it took a few trips to re-sale shops to find the 20+ wooden hoops.  i also hunted for old lace and large doilies.   after i had a nice collection i placed all the fabric carefully into each hoop, cutting the edges.  after hanging them in a cluster (which is suppose to look like a cloud) i attached monofilament to each hoop and the base of the window and added hand-cut vellum raindrops.

i hope that it is cheerful to look at and brings you gently into fall.

much love
jessica

leather accessories

making accessories again...
soft purple leather:: folded, cut, punched and sewn-- a wallet!

many years ago i made leather wallets and a small jewelry line.  the leather has been boxed up and today i opened the box and created this little wallet.  it was amazing.

my little facepainter!

my 10 year old daughter, Ayva Sunshine is an amazing creative spirit.  she wanted so badly to facepaint at our local first-friday art walk. i said, "you bet".  we sat up a small booth right in the middle of town.  she set all her supplies up (with a little help from mom) and started  painting away.  three hours later and a lot of happy kids, mrs. ayva was so tired and $90 richer!  i was so proud of her, as she was very proud of herself too!

she got home... counted all her $ and tossed it in the air.  haha.  i would have done the same.  like mother like daughter.  :)

"bonjour" backdrop design

design

for the first time i decided to cut an oval into a plywood backdrop.  it was a huge hit!  the teenagers loved peeking throught the hole.

it also made it easier for me to keep everything in frame.

materials:
4x8' piece of 1/4" plywood
chalkboard paint
chalk pen
overhead projector (make your type perfect)
tool to cut hole ( not sure cause i asked my super helpful husband Garth to do it )

the design was very simple.  i like that.  the stars were the teenages and props!  boy... did they POP!
thank you HRMS!  congrats
