SP13 window dressing

modern macrame.

i created this window installation with three very basic and mundane materials... all purchased at ACE Hardware. 

1. cotton rope
2. cotton industrial mop heads
3. industrial neon spray paint
+ hands

i have been styling the front windows of Parts + Labour boutique in Hood River, Oregon for almost 5 years.  i install a new window each season. 

this is my installation for SP2013. 

special thanks to my 11 year old daughter www.helloayvalevin.blogspot.com  for helping me knot rope and showing me the ropes... on basic macrame knots! 

california dreaming

two oregon girls went to california for some sunshine. + a little work. 

we found it.. and then some. 

me + my bestie: jewelry designer/metalsmith, sarah morton-eramsus of www.mejewelryco.com traveled to LA to drop off line sheets and samples to a few select boutiques.

i constructed a small black base+wall that tucked into the little window space so i would have a clean modern surface to start with.  i made a yarn wreath, garland with paper straws with bits of holiday gold garland balled up.  fake snow from pillow stuffing + west elm glitter snow dusted about...this cute santa face on a stick is from The Paper Souce on NW23rd in Portland. 

my little sunshine

young + talented.

my daughter is my bright sunshine.  she blows me away with her talent in art and design.  it is so neat to watch her grow and shine.  

@ age 11 she was asked to teach a class for young fashionistas on how to construct a duct tape dress.  she even got paid$$

this is the flyer... ayva on stage with the very first dress she made.    x

btw: she did this all by herself... i tried to add my two cents and she was not having it.  i thought all the tape she chose was going too look to busy.  i was wrong.  she put it together with the geometry of a little master.
